On November 29, 2017, the Soochow University Big Data Analytics Research Center held this year's "Big Data Visualization Analysis Tool Tableau Software Application Training" course at the Soochow University Wai-Shuang-Chi Campus. The course content included a basic page introduction, data type introduction, data connection methods, data concatenation, basic visualization chart analysis, geographical information visualization analysis, interactive dashboard presentation, and the addition of control variables, among other rich content.
This training course received enthusiastic response from both the faculty and staff and currently enrolled students of Soochow University, as well as alumni. Faculty and staff participants included those from the Big Data Analytics Research Center, the Office of Institutional Research, and the Department of Economics. Students from various colleges and departments such as the College of Digital Commerce, Department of Psychology, Department of Social Work, Department of Sociology, Department of Finance Engineering and Actuarial Mathematics, and Department of Accounting participated.
From the attendees, it can be observed that an increasing number of groups from different backgrounds within the university have expectations and needs for "data visualization." As we enter the era of big data, the Big Data Analytics Research Center also shoulders the expectations of the university, dedicating itself to developing core capabilities in processing massive data and presenting it visually. The intuitive and rapid switching of visualization charts in Tableau software, without the limitation of writing code for analysis, has led the Big Data Center to continuously promote this software on campus, enhancing the data presentation capabilities of teachers and students alike.
In the future, the Big Data Analytics Research Center will continue to promote courses on data analysis tools and data visualization analysis tools, ensuring that interested faculty and students at Soochow University do not fall behind in the era of big data.
